Hey y'all. If you're reading the description for the first time, I've been blogging a little bit here. Kind of fun and certainly not the place to do it. In any case... here:
So this one came together really great! I did the looping in a new way that is way less crazy and way more fun. I set up all of the loop lengths ahead of time in Ableton Live, and then it just... happens. If you look at the Push in the back, you can see the drums start when I hit play, and then they do exactly what I programmed them to do- stop for the bridge, fade in for the last choruses, and back out. It's a beautiful thing.
So I set all of that up, ironed out a few of the harmonies and decided to solo at the end, practiced it twice, and then hit it. This was my first and only take. I wish it were always (or ever) this easy. Mood: Extreme Euphoria.
I actually have next week's done already, so that's another chunk of fantastic news. I'm getting a bunch of kickass collaborations in the works, as well as doing some live shows, so the next week is all about getting ready for all of that and then I'm off traveling! I'm hitting up Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington DC, Oklahoma, Moscow (what), and Vancouver. If you're near/in any of those vast places, check out http://www.bandsintown.com/christopherbill and hopefully I'll have them posted there. If it's nowhere near March of 2015 and you're reading this... what's up future people? I played a bunch of cool places back in March/April of 2015. That's over now. For those of you in present day, it's not over, come see my live and say hi to my face please.
Question of the weeeeek:
Do you have a favorite band that you don't think anybody has heard of? Mine used to be Lake Street Dive, but now they're getting the media they deserve (wooooo!)
so my second choice is a band called The Crowd: http://youtu.be/Kh82bhAp9s0.
