Marmalade - Lovin' Things

1968

Featuring Brigitte Bardot - in Cannes, 1953.

It's the lovin' things you do

That make me grow so close to you

Gonna want you my whole life through

For the lovin' things, baby that you do

It's the lovin' things you say

That give me comfort every day

By your side I'm gonna stay

To hear the lovin' things, baby that you say

Since that day our love began

I've become a new and happy man

I can hold my head up high

When you are near I touch the sky

With your soft and sweet caress

You brought me such tenderness

To think I was once forsaken

With your kiss I did awaken..

It's the lovin' things you do

That make me grow so close to you

Gonna want you my whole life through

For the lovin' things, baby that you do

Then you walked into my life

Said how you'd soon end all my strife

With a smile from your young face

You gave me back my inspiration

It's the lovin' things we share

That assures me how you care

Our friends call us the perfect pair

For the lovin' things, baby that we share

It's the lovin' things you do

That make me grow so close to you

Gonna want you my whole life through

For the lovin' things, baby that you do

It's the lovin' things you say

That give me comfort every day

By your side I'm gonna stay

To hear the lovin' things, baby that you say

I love the crisp bass playing in this song, reminds me of The Love Affair and so many other great songs from the 1960's. I went and bought a bass guitar with the hope of being a famous player. In the end all I could do was plonk along using the root notes, fail!

Great summer song and a young Bardot from maybe 58 not 68, but still she was beautiful for all the right reasons and even the sailors in the background probably didn't have tattoos

I had forgotten this one. It is so sweet and innocent - takes me right back to age 16. I cannot begin to imagine its equivalent now.

Thank you for the memory WearyOldMan. Suddenly I am transported back to 1968 and this little gem playing on the Radio in the Summer. Such care free days for a 15 year old at the time. Now touching 62 this month. Where do those years go and why do we not have songs like that anymore.

Love this song. 1968 used to go to the Top Rank Suite Southampton. Allan Ross was the resident band They did a good version. Anybody out there went to this place in that year.
