Je ne suis pas un fan aveugle de Callas, elle n'est pas pour moi l'unique chanteuse qui mérite d'être écoutée, et en plus Tosca est un opéra qui m'agace un peu. Mais Maria a le don de transformer le moindre air en moment de grâce!

Who cares about Gheorghiu when we're concerned with Callas' interpretation of Vissi d'arte? If you don't like her version, fine - but tell us why based on what she does, not on what she doesn't (= sound like Gheorghiu). Besides, Gheorghiu is a lyric soprano and as such not ideal for Tosca or Norma, however well the recording studio may make us believe she could handle such roles.

Thank you for your comments of the greatest singing actress of ALL TIme and forever all time forever and ever. And I cry every time I hear her sing. But as Tosca, I think Tebaldi is second best.

Absolutely! Not only was she an exceptional Soprano and musician but she knew how to express the tragic and the pathos like no one. It wasn't the case for Tebaldi despite her beautiful voice....
