While visiting Donegal in mid-August with my wife, Breda and friends, Liam and Bernie, we were fortunate to see an advertisement for country singer Margo O'Donnell (Daniel's sister) scheduled to perform in a place called Aislann Rann Na Feirste. We consulted maps and spoke with locals and discovered Rann Na Feirste is a delightful Rosses village not far from Annagry (which is north of Dungloe and not too far from Gweedore) and Aislann is the Community Centre. This is an Irish speaking area and a really incredibly beautiful part of Donegal. Be warned! Some of the roads around this area are so narrow that you may very well have to reverse if you meet another car coming in the opposite direction!! This all adds to the charm of the area. The Community Hall was packed for Margo's performance which went on for several hours - with lots of songs, great jokes and recollections of bygone days. Before Margo took to the stage, Irish country singer, Frank McCaffrey, entertained the crowds.
