Yes, he did sing lead and backup here. He plays many different instruments, but electric bass pays the rent. Marcus was down with Luther V. from the early days, and they were friends to the end. They were in a band called "Luther" that signed with Cotillion Records in the 70's, but they didn't get their props. After Luther hit it big, he bought all the old masters... Cotillion was going to remix and re-release them, and he didn't want the old stuff competing with his new sounds.
