Saw them live and they were so loud, possibly the loudest band I'd heard at that point, amazing though, really different kind of group, they were just too interesting at a time when Brit-flop monotony seemed to rule. There were a lot of great bands around at the end of the nineties who didn't really get the recognition they deserved. Mansun being one of them

Loved loved loved this back in the day. Six as an album is a insane piece of work...I implore you to give it a go...Shotgun...Inverse Midas...Special/Blown It...now that's a classic record. Maybe their best work.

this entire album is terrific, kind of their white album, experimental and awesome. too bad the band didn't follow up on the promise that is 'Six'. it's the reason i don't miss them, they were never gonna be this good again.

I remember this album getting pretty slated in the music press. I listened. Two years later a friend gave it to me. It had no case and I have only ever played to it in my car. It is a perfect angry/melancholy album. I never took any notice of the NME ever again. I have had four cars since then and it is the only CD that has stayed in there the whole time. Over a decade later it is still up there with Gold Against the Soul on my list of favourites.
