I love both MT's and Anita's versions. All the people dogging on Anita's version here are just clowning themselves. Anita Baker is one of the most soulful voices to come out of the turn of the 80s. It was an awesome addition to put on her breakthrough album Rapture. To me, this is like when Robert Palmer came out with Didn't Mean to Turn You On and remade that song with his own signature. Love both Cherelle and RP's version equal, like I love MT's and Anita's version of this song equal as well.

Escapists, you are absolutely correct. Rod Temperton was originally with Heatwave and his song writing abilities were put to use on Michael Jackson's Rock with you album... my fav hit besides Mystery was the classic ballad, Leaving for a dream which will be played at my funeral.

Why is everyone a slave to chronology? Manhattan Transfer performed it before Anita but this song was written by neither of them. Credit should go to Mr. Rod Temperton if you people want to be pedantic. They're both very good renditions of a very well written song. Just because something happened before doesn't mean it warrants your unbased bias.
