Class track from a class band.

the lyrical content of this song is almost quasi religious with Weller quoting that GOD created men all equal , Amen to that Paul ........ the corner shop mentality you detect in tthis ditty is so life like even stereotypical image of the supermarket envy!!!!!!! a classy song that should of been released as a single instead of the taxman rip off START.....

great track. Describes the problems with living in a society that is too worried about money.

Sound Affects was brilliant, like all their albums. A definite change in musical direction, but then Weller is such a gifted writer and musician.

this song reminds me of coronation street but boy what a song by the best song writer from the 1970s right up to todaythere should be a british hall of fame with paul weller at the top of the list

To me the song represents the jealousy between each class structure and how when you move from one class to another it is never enough as you are still wanting more. A bit of 'grass is always greener'. An excellent song by the best band ever

I think that what weller is alluding to in this tune is that although petty jealousy and struggles exist between groups of people they are irrelevant to the big picture that we are all part of the control system ,where God either does not exist or care about anyone, regardless of their social standing
