The Locomotion

Another example of Sinatra making a song his very own. Why should any other singer even record this ,if you know what I mean. Very risque for it's time, but they used nomenclature that was acceptable, so basically we have a song about what happens when two people have unprotected sex and the sperm enters the egg:KIDS! Take a pad out right now, and write a song about "Whoopee"...yes that's right. I don't think you'll ever think that a lyricist plays second fiddle to a composer ever again. That's why many people in the Cabaret world deem Lorenz Hart to be our greatest lyricist. He, like Gus Kahn, are not satisfied with plebeian rhymes or non creative words:"But don't forget folks/He even sews" even some chuckles here and there to make this a tasty dish of a song. That's why if you look at all the aspiring songwriters on Social Media, they really do feel great when they get a pat on the back. Why? Because it's so easy to take a melody and put a so so rhyme to it. Now, given in our day and age, this song would never have been written. I've come across a lot of very fine musicians on the various social media, and they have something to say and it's from the heart! I know it sounds corny, but for a guy, creating a work of art is the closest a man can get to the feeling of giving birth to life. We'll be back! True?
