Yes, you'd know that there was a turd beneath the exterior because you put the exterior there. In this case, someone has handed you a golden box and you're claiming to magically know there's a turd inside. You've stated that the contents of the box are both hidden and known to you. This is such an obvious, basic logical contradiction that I'm not sure it can be put into simpler terms. You're saying that you know what the message is and that you don't know at the same time.

Because we are what? We are conscious of anything that is subliminal? If you consciously perceive a message through some medium, that message cannot be said to be subliminal. By definition, a subliminal message is one that the receiver is NOT conscious of. That is the dictionary definition of the word. In other words, if you're consciously receiving a message, it's just a message; if you're unconsciously receiving a message, it's a subliminal message.
