In my opinion, no one save Bob Dylan, writes more personal, and poignant, songs. If you've ever seen Dylan sit at the piano, his book has over 600 songs, so maybe they deserve a little slack from the armchair "critics-artists-haters" who ought to get up and show us how THEY would do it. Their writing is nothing short of beautiful.

Lucinda Williams is a truly talented songwriter and singer. No one can do it like her (deadpan?). I don’t even care if she was strung out. I saw her at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass this year and she rocked it. And Doug Pettibone - the man is pure GENIUS!!! I could listen to his guitar all day long. His skills tug at your heartstrings in magnificent harmony with her lyrics. The two together are simply amazing!

I had the privilege and honor to catch this tour and this is probably the best backing band Lucinda has ever had. She cannot sing like she could 20 years ago, but that is understandable. She is still one of the most important and talented American song writers of the last 30 years. You can tell the Doug Pettibone and the rest of the band know they are privileged to support Lucinda and truly enjoy playing.
