At around the 2 minute mark, I'm reminded of Buddy Love from the Nutty Professor. I wonder if this guy was an influence on Eddie Murphy? :P

It's a "soundie," a 1940s ancestor to modern music videos.

What a fabulous entertainer. LJ is brilliant. I've been swing dancing for years and embarrassed that I only tonight discovered him.

As usual, Jordan has some smoking girls in his video. One looks like Nicky O'Daniel, but I can't recognize the others.

I'm a big LJ fanatic, but I've never seen this one. Too funny! This is clearly from his vaudeville days (Bert Williams, the father of Black Comedy and LJ's inspiration, did an "Elder Eatmore" routine in 1919, along with preacher routines and mock sermons similar to this). A good companion piece to Jordan's "Deacon Jones." Classic and clever foolishness.

@jammymor
Thanks so much.
It's funny-- I never heard of this gentleman before and his/ their performance is hard to define. Is this kind of act considered blues-big band/jazz or it is considered comedy?

@ArtLoversStudio18 .. Louie Jordan is a country boy from the state of Arkansas..he is one cool cat and can swing like no one else though.. he inspired Chuck Berry, Little Richard, James Brown, and was BB King's main influence.. not to mention every sax player after him.. what a legend !!

That's the most energetic reading of the alphabet I've ever heard.
I love this video.
