See below for lyrics in Spanish and English.

I have some new information from user "LEGIONARIO1970" who informs me that this style of music is actually called, "Gustito Calentano," from the state of Guerrero, Mexico. I cannot find much information about this in English so I cannot confirm this information based on certainty, but it does seem as though this information is correct. I would love to have some more information if anyone can provide it to me.

This is a traditional version of 'Las Amarillas,' as interpreted by Los Lobos. Originally featured on their 1990 album, 'La Pistola y El Corazon.' For some reason there was no traditional version of this song on YouTube so I added this for your listening pleasure.

Finally you can listen to the song the way it was meant to be heard, with a traditional arrangement using the traditional instruments.

Spanish Lyrics(English below):

English translation:

The yellow larks fly from their cactuses

No longer will the cardinals sing happily

their "tirana-na-na"

and "tirana-na-no"

No longer will the cardinals sing happily

The trees on the hillside, since they haven't revived

For this the larks sing, or the nest hold them down

their "tirana-na-na"

and "tirana-na-no"

For this the larks sing, or the nest hold them down

You are little and beautiful, and the way you are, I love you

You look like a little rose from the shores of Guerrero

with your "tirana-na-na"

and "tirana-na-no"

Like a little rose from the shores of Guerrero

In the middle of the sea a whale sighed

And in those sighs he who dried up the flood spoke

with his "tirana-na-na"

and "tirana-na-no"

And in those sighs he who dried up the flood spoke

My father was a sparrowhawk and I was born to peck and peck

Where I place my beak, I'm like a trumpeter

with my "tirana-na-na"

and "tirana-na-no"

Everyone has their farewells, but none is like this

Like a "tirana-na-na"

and a "tirana-na-no"

Everyone has their farewells, but none is like this

Four times five is twenty,

three times seven is twenty-one

Four times five is twenty,

three times seven is twenty-one

Four times five is twenty,

three times seven is twenty-one

With a "tirana-na-na"

and a "tirana-na-no"

What I have learned is that Tierra Caliente "The Hotlands" in Mexico is a region that comprises parts of several states including Guerrero, Michoacan, and also Oaxaca. During the "Gold Rush" or Fiebre del Oro in the United States many prospectors came from South America and mainly from Chile and brought their "chilenas" a genre that combined with sones calentanos, zapateados, and many other local music to bring about what is not the "chilenas mexicanas" not exactly like they are danced in South America but still danced in many instances using a scarf. My mom was born in Huetamo, Michoacan, which is part of what is considered Tierra Caliente Michoacan. My grandmother danced on top of a "tarima" piece of wood on top of a broken jar to produce a special sound with footwork.

Well this type of music like said LEGIONARIO1970 is from of State of Guerrero, and is no a Huapango, this type of music is know as Chilenas of Costa Chica is a rhythm to the union of traditional music of Chile and the music of South to Mexico. Exist in other states like Oaxaca, Chiapas in the Coast, between others. Other songs of same rhythm are "La Iguana", "El Toro Rabón", "El Gusto" or "El Gustito", between others.
