I truely can relate to the words of this song. Being a black transgender female Im faced with obticles day after day. Im smart, have a degree, and very independent. The words is so close to my life struggles of trying to fit in with a society that is very cruel to female like myself. Its sad that our own community defaces us as well as our fellow sisters and transmen. The second phrase of the song," since I was born I've waken every blessed morning down on my luck, and againt the wind" is so true.
