Here I've sung all the parts, using Acoustica Mixcraft and a $20 headset mic. My recording is inspired by the Chanticleer version. There are a total of 10 voices here, including the solo.

This is a beautiful arrangement by Ralph Vaughan Williams of the Scottish folk song, Loch Lomond. There are a couple different stories about the song's origins, which you can read about here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bonnie_Banks_O%27_Loch_Lomond

Good old Wikipedia ;). I was also going to do a Scottish accent in this recording, but I basically forgot, and then it was too late :P.

Anyway, enjoy!

Ah, so nice to hear. Because of this song, I went to see Loch Lomond. Beautiful, modest, quiet. A pretty little tiny town at the point we reached. It was easy to imagine young lovers there...

Well done Philip.I see that someone commenting here implied that you should have sung this at a faster tempo. Disregard that.Your sense of the phrasing, flow and overall rhythm of the whole thing is quite sufficient for your performance to work at your chosen tempo. The speed is fine. Even with slightly less added reverberation it would still be so, because of your sense and delivery of the music. One thing you did not imitate from Chanticleer - the quivering, that ugly vocal instability usually more politely referred to as "vibrato", which ruins tuning, harmony, melody and the music as a whole.Your stable, well controlled but never tense voice is far better.I would be pleased to hear more from you.

My late father used to speak fondly of cycling out here on camping trips from Glasgow in the 1940s and 50s, when there were very few cars on the road and you could camp wild for free (I believe you still can in Scotland).

Lovely! To those who have not visited bonnie Scotland the A82 past Loch Lomond up to the plateau thru glen Coe down to fort William and on to the road to the isles! Skye, Harris and North Uist absolutely 'out of this world' really! Do it before they 'shut the border!' Best! Chris!

Brilliant !!! Britain owes so much to Vaughan Williams for preseving a part of our heritage that had sadly been neglcted. We already had the poets and authors but he showed us that we had a rich musical legacy.
