Well they definitely have been influenced. I mean without the African stream rap wouldn't be what it is today, so it definitely has roots there. As well as punk and some progressive rock (has a lot of blues riffs), now granted punk doesn't sound anything alike, but rock came out of blues, and punk has its roots in later rock with a more mainstream sound. Although rap and punk now are very disappointing, I highly agree.

Rap and punk are no where near blues or even influenced by it. Punk is just a bunch of tweaked out white boys chopping on power chords, and rap is electronic beats with some fool talking fast about money and bitches. Not to be confused with rap that actually matters and has a poetic message.
