Great to find Liona Boyd finally. I first purchased a vinyl album of her playing this piece by Satie in 1981. Classical guitar music wasn't a big seller back then so finding it at 33 1/3 rpm was a score.

Classical guitar music wasn't a big seller at Tower Records (look it up) back then so finding it at 33 1/3 rpm was a score. Now I can mark this one off the "Bucket List". Life back in balance.

He signed his name as a compose with a "K", but his name originally was with a "C". Again, those French, and he was a colorful one at that.

Stanster, That is incredible the recording was made from a mono VHS machine. Do you mean just like a Video recorder and you plug into the input on the sound channel? They would have needed a pre amp for the Mic. I wonder what they used as a pre amp?

Dear Stanster, In respect to your comment what did you not like about the audio, you refered to it as bad? I found the audio on my computer speakers was amazing. You know what I am thinking? I was listening to the sound of the guitar and I have never heard a guitar sound so even and almost sounded like a piano to me. Every note was so even and I do know about compression , but I feel it was Liona's right hand technique that was so even and relaxed. You know mono may be the answer.

Beautiful performance. The tone is so pretty and smooth. I like the tempo to it is awesome. The guitar sounds like a piano. Is there a transcription of Liona Boyds arrangement out there Gymnopédie #1 (Eric Satie) .

classclef . com has this song as well as Erik Satie's other musical pieces he composed. Classclef is by far my favorite place to find music-especially romantic/baroque/classical and flamenco music, that I want to learn. Very few pieces that I looked up were unavailable, and I've looked for many! It's free btw.

His given name was Éric Alfred Leslie Satie. He later signed it as Erik Satie. You're both right.:)
