Thanks for this. I actually think page’s playing was the weakest link on this song. He’s out of tune and sloppy (and not in a good way) imho. As for tone, I hear a Les Paul in the neck position into a small amp, probably the Supro.

The recording for Zep 2 was done at over 6 studios scattered across England and North America. So many consoles and tape machines were used for this album its hard to say what mics and pre amps were used on this song. I know most here think the guitar and the amps make the sound and that is true..... to an extent. The consoles pre amps and microphones are more important to me. Sad I cant seem to find what those were in this track......... :((
