Never liked this guy, but since I came back from a 30 year lay off from playing music, I'm starting to get his music. I heard a tribute band called Petty Theft, and I loved what they did with his music. Their lead vocalists wasn't winey like Tom, and the harmonies i thought better. Lately I've noticed toms voice is maturing, and losing that wine. I guess it was a lil of it my maturing to, that changed my mind. He is definitely a word smith, with very catchy melodies, but he looks like a sad scare crow. Both my bands cover some of his stuff now, so I guess ya can never say never !
