The beauty and timelessness of this performance is that Lea Salonga wasn't even born when Rogers and Hammerstein first produced the music for Flower DrumSong. Thus does the inspiration of composers and lyricists live long beyond their life times. Lea certainly has a beautiful and expressive voice that is nicely displayed on this performance and the sound is nicely balanced too. Thanks so much for this posting.

bahaha that fool that thinks she's considered a "dime a dozen" hahaha. shes like one of the most successful women in musical theater famous for her vocals internationally. clearly you are the untrained one because in terms of vocal tech she uses her filter perfectly and her mouth positions create flawless resonance. beautiful performance.

Are you for real...? It's music theatre, you sometimes HAVE to articulate that way, otherwise the text is unclear. I suppose her lack of training is why her career has been so successful... Everything is heightened for stage, it's got nothing to do with your native language.

Only a non-English speaker has to emphasize words to be understood. A real English speaker will never exaggerate his/her mouth openings in order to be understood; English words will come out of his/her mouth clearly without looking ridiculous like Salonga. Salonga obviously lacks training in spoken English.

She is over-exaggerating her mouthing. It looks ugly and affected. Besides, the mouth opening should be roughly circular whatever the vowel is (even if it is "e" or" i"). So her mouthing technique is also wrong.
