As a young girl I always loved Laura's singing....it's not a white or Black thing....it's just good music thing and I get tired of people always quick to comment something negative when comparing a song....either it's good music or bad music that is the "QUESTION"!

One of her generation's finest and most soulful NYC based songwriters. Even Carole King recognized her greatness in King's Carnegie Hall concert in 1971.

I haven't heard anyone refer to black people as "blacks" since the 70's, honestly, so your guess is as good as mine.

The blacks? When was it ever cool to say "the blacks"? This is art. Artists sing other artists' music, and they show their love that way. Records are black, or they used to be, anyway.

Good lord what are you from, 1963? Yes, " the blacks" sang many of her songs, right after we got done marching on birmingham and fluffing out our Afros. Nyro contributed immensely to Soul music in the mid- and post-motown era. Even us "blacks" miss her.

To be fair, Laura makes a lot of other singers look no talent by comparison.

She reminds me of a more sultry and soulful Cass Elliot (Mommas and the Poppas) ~L. Blake

Now that Laura isn't among us, Ludwig van Beethoven, and many others of his caliber must be among her biggest fans. Maybe she had to leave us early because others that had gone before her deserved to hear her music. According to the apocalyptic book of Enoch, written by a man who met his Creator and talked with archangels, the dead are conscious and aware of their past lives. Like Frank Sinatra, Laura seemed to ignore religion that sets itself up as a middleman between Creator and his creation.

Thank you to David Geffen for bringing this amazing talent to the recording booth way back in those heady days of the 60's.

Her voice is very very youthful, and clear, and beautiful. ... after a long life.. she must have taken good care of her cords.

An voice absolutely not LIKE an angel, but REALLY truly an angel's voice. What a price to pay, indeed. Gone way too soon. Thanks so much for posting, thank goodness someone taped it.
