Memorable Musical Moments - Proudly South African - This gem of a video recently floated into view, and we grasped the first available opportunity to feature it. Koos Kombuis was one of the leading lights of the Voëlvry movement that brought about a revolution in Afrikaans music, and now, a few decades down the line, he is one of the elder statesmen of the South African music - and cultural scene. The video documents the recording of "Babilon Blues" at Shifty Studios. A number of luminaries feature, such as Lloyd Ross at the desk, James Philllips (Bernoldus Niemand) on keyboards, and the inimitable Johannes Kerkorrel hovering with intent to be great.
