"I guess now is the time that many people will actually listen to the music of Ken Snyder (yes, he does have a last name). Well, this is just some harmless Country Gospel music like it was played in 1976, but it does come with a funny cover. I've heard worse and he certainly beats Jimmy Swaggart: Nice piano playing, low-budget (but effective) production and some inspirational moments included. For example the medley "Holy Spirit Flow Thru Me / Holy Spirit Flow Thru Me" might be the best example of his way of starting a song understated and taking it to the climax. "Modern Religion" has quite a funky (as far as you can say this in this context) groove while Ken angrily goes on about Christian hypocrisy - you know he's on the right side! "I Want to Live My Life for Jesus" closes this album very optimistically and leaves you requesting even more.
What can be criticized is the weak, nasal voice that doesn't always hit the exact notes, however this amateur spirit has its charming sides as well - you gotta hand it to Ken for singing what he believes in no matter what vocal chords his Lord provided him with. Alright, now how to go on about the rating? Admittedly, the music is only 2.5 stars in my book, but I'm adding a whole star for the feeling you get from actually being able to listen to this 'ironic post-modern age' cult classic."
(I tried to find the blog I stole this text from, but apparently it was taken down. Well, it's here now as well as copypastaed all over the web. Not my fault.)
