+bballswagger22 You thought exactly as I did!I found the NTSB report on the Keith Green crash, and it was especially troublesome. What it all boiled down to was a lot of bad decisions adding up to this disaster which claimed his life and 11 others, 4 of them children. Please bear in mind I'm not trying to demonize anyone in particular, but to point out the facts as to how it all came about...Keith was entertaining friends at his ranch and wanted to show it to them from the air. Recently, he had dry-leased the aircraft and hired on a pilot who'd recently been separated from the military, having been a pilot there. The pilot had a multi-engine rating, which was restricted to centerline-thrust aircraft (e.g. Cessna 337), barring him from conventional twin-engine aircraft operation. Also, he had a history of substandard checkrides and he did not meet proficiency standards as required by Keith Green's insurance underwriter (whether or not Keith knew about his pilot's deficiencies is unknown). Keith's pilot loaded up the aircraft for the flight around the patch: 12 people in a 7-seat plane, sitting children in laps and others on the floor. Keith's pilot, having been a military pilot, knew nothing about weight-and-balance as civilian pilots are required to know, since that responsibility belonged to a military loadmaster. They simply loaded up the plane and flew off...and crashed. The aircraft was 445 pounds overweight and the center-of-gravity was 4.26 inches past the aft maximum limit. Of course, everyone aboard died of thermal burns.In the end, Keith's organization was cited some responsibility by the FAA, as the organization neither verified nor supplemented the pilot's certifications for the job he was hired to do. The lion's share of the responsibility was placed, of course, upon the pilot: he assumed the responsibility of not only the lives aboard the aircraft when he sat in the pilot's seat to operate the aircraft, but for certification (or the lack thereof) to the extent of operating the aircraft in a manner which saw harm come to nobody or nothing. Amazingly, even the FAA took some blame: an FAA inspector didn't do his job well enough in the matter of approving/certifying the pilot. It's believed that this FAA inspector wrongly removed the centerline-thrust restriction from the pilot's certification.

As sad as his death was, it seems selfish to have wanted to keep Keith for ourselves. The Father needed him, so Keith was called home. The question is not how much more he could do, but what does God want from me? Who do I need to reach out to and inspire with the word of God? I don't know if I could ever touch people the way Keith did, but I do know that God has a plan and purpose for me, just like he continues to for Keith. Heaven is the destination, life is a way to show our faith in God.
