I don't know about that last part. I remember reading somewhere Toby saying that he basically recorded those two songs at home on his iPhone or something crazy like that. They probably sound better because of the minimal instrumentation more than anything.

In all honesty, sub par recording has really become a thing of the past; it's very rare that a band or artist unwillingly releases low quality music anymore since for less than 1K you can get gear good enough to release decent quality recordings. I think they just wanted that live sound and Toby himself has said that he wanted to have that lo-fi black metal sound. This song and Gamma Knife also stand out as having much better quality on the album.

Awesome; more fans gotta support this band. It's a shame they're reduced to sub-par recordings like this one just because people don't wanna pay $20 for what is arguably some of the best music on earth.

Exactly. I hadn't heard of anything new from these guys since Blue Lambency until I stumbled upon this. I'm proudly paying for a hard copy of it and can't wait to receive it.

He's not hindering the band, as far as I can see. I mean, there's a free stream of Gamma Knife on Kayo Dot's bandcamp page. Putting the videos up on YouTube just gives the band more exposure.

This brings imagery of heavenly Greek places. I love how they sound like Deathspell Omega in the next piece. Kayo Dot are truly progressive, not trying to capture the old "progressive" sound but actually creating new atmospheres.
