Fantastic rockaballad remake of a '20's song with that great late '50's sound. Did not chart nationally in Billboard, but charted locally in the Top 30 in Memphis, Tennessee in January 1959. "Oh, How I Miss You Tonight" was originally a hit in 1925 charting at #7 for Lewis James, #6 for the Benson Orchestra of Chicago and #11 for Irving Kaufman that year. In 1960/1961, Jeanne Black charted at #63 on the Billboard Hot 100 with a remake and a recording featuring Jim Reeves and Deborah Allen charted at #6 Country in 1979.

Original Billboard review: A Billboard Pick. "The thrush presents a very strong warble on the oldie. It's one of her finest sides in some time. She does the pretty tune against mild rock backing. With exposure, she could have a strong item."

Released as a single in December 1958.

Written by Benny Davis, Joe Burke, and Mark Fisher.

B-side is "He Cha Cha'd In".

By the 1950s, record producers were nostalgic for "their" music (1920s) and there was actually a resurgence (like Kay's here) in that vaudeville style most popularized by Teresa Brewer. This record has that same feel of Kay's "Stroll Me" which also did not convince teenage audiences that Kay was an authentic "rock and roller". However, this really does have a great sound and Kay remains one of my all time favorites...God love her she enters into her 90s! :--) & Thanks LimePop for the GREAT upload!
