Sometimes you open a jewelry box and, burried under bigger and brighter stones, somewhere in a corner, you find ..... a little gem, shiny and crystal clear, something you had forgotten about completely ......
And the little gem brings back an entire range of magical memories ..........
That's (more or less ;-) the feeling we had when we found this catchy and mood enhancing arrangement of "In Old Lisbon" by Kai Warner.
Would it be a coincidence that both James Last and Kai Warner seemed to have a preference for this kind of "upbeat arrangements" of traditional songs ? Guess not : as in many other cases where talent comes into the picture, one could say also here : " it's a family issue !!" ;-)
(As most of you know : Werner Last (Kai Warner) and Hans Last (James) are brothers). This tune brings me back to my early teens, when I bought a music magazine every week that listed the tunes that would be broadcasted on one of the national radio stations the next day or later that week.
And maybe it's hard to believe but I remember 'marking with a fluo pencil' this Kai Warner version of "Lisboa Antigua" (the original title)....
Next day I then would be "glued" to the radio not wanting to miss any of the "action" ;-)
From the 1974 album "Golden Violins" here's Kai with "In Old Lisbon".
Happy listening.
