When Motown bought out Ric-Tic Records in the mid-60's, they also bought the contracts for such artists as Edwin Starr and The Fantastic Four. The Fantastic Four recorded a number of songs for the Motown label, but none were any hits. Mostly due to the fact that there was lack of promotion of the group and the singles since The Four Tops and The Temptations were Motown's guy group hot sellers. In 1969, The Fantastic Four recorded "Just Another Lonely Night." It was first recorded by The Temptations and then later The Four Tops.
Written by Ivy Jo Hunter and William Stevenson
Produced by Clay McMurray
Arranged by Wade Marcus and Paul Riser
Recorded: June 27, 1969
Additional Background Vocals: The Andantes
This version is by far the best version. Some may disagree that The Temptations' original is the best, but this version is at a slower pace (as it should be) and captures the mood of the song. Awesome production of an awesome song by an awesome group!
