Jungle is one of the most exciting new-age bands that have a way with combining old hip-hop with classic instruments like guitar, and a unique high voiced lead singer. The results are very infectious rhythms that have an edgy unbalanced feel to them. This is their trademark, and makes their songs powerful and danceable, yet intimate and fragile at the same time.
Like Jungle, Joy Orbison isn't afraid to go medieval on conventional genres, and created a very unique remix of their song The Heat. The remix feels like an entire club night squeezed into five minutes, and has all kinds of mind screws in it. For instance, the ambiance reminds of a waving packed dance floor in some (preferably) dark club, yet the tempo doesn't even come close to tracks you associate with those moments. Next to that, the build up of the track is very minimal, yet the whole songs seems to be in an ever intensifying slipstream from zero to end.
Joy Orbison carefully works his way towards a point where he receives help from the scarce vocals, which allow the bass to kick in and release the tention. After the peak, the song comes down, but keeps on to be very moody. There is no dj certified outro, and he ends with a proper bang. Time to go home.
