Mickey Rooney, who has died at age 93, was best known for his boy-next-door role in the Andy Hardy movies.

It was in the film Love Finds Andy Hardy that Rooney first worked with Judy Garland, who was on the verge of hitting the big time with The Wizard of Oz.

Rooney and Garland more Hardy movies together and in 1939 were cast together in Babes in Arms, a Busby Berkeley musical about two struggling young entertainers that earned Rooney, then 19, an Oscar nomination.

We weren't just a team, we were magic," Rooney said in a stage show about his life.
