I will never forget the thrill I got when Judy came out with this song on her 1st. TV Show. How tricky to pick "Call Me Irresponsible", being Judy's reputation for being late or not showing up at all. The Judy Garland Show was my favorite TV show even if it did last only one season.

No one could do this kind-of ostensibly facetious,propitious,and scrumptious opening number better than Ms Judy Garland - whose inseparable charm and incomparable talent had just brimmed over the small screen with good cheer,pure energy,great pride,sweet sentiment,and contented state. Seeing this diminutive-yet-definitive lady belting out and carrying out her number along with her guest-star Mr Donald O'Connor,her regular co-host Mr Jerry Van Dyke,and an assembly of proficient chorus is simply fascinating,intoxicating,and rejuvenating - a sort of cherishing-and-flashing on her good old days at MGM studio and in one way or another "inadvertently" revealing-and-ridiculing her backstage problem ( of being irresponsible and unreliable star ).But still this eminently estimable-and-incredible showbiz icon had never failed to pull the attention of her audience / her followers with her efficacious and officious performances and with her nimble-witted and high-spirited personality-showcasing the best of herself.This was what and who she would want to be on her television show.On this 7th episode her preliminary musical numbers of Mr Van Heusen / Mr Cahn's Call Me Irresponsible and Mr Henderson / Mr DeSylva & Mr Brown's Sunny Side Up were apparently prerecorded to give Ms Garland a workout to the audience before turning to the actual vocal acts.If a load of troubles should arise, laugh and say "it's great to be alive." This classic show will emphatically-and-magically keep your sunny side up.
