I came upon a child of God

He was walking along the road

And I asked him where are you going

And this he told me

I'm going on down to Yasgur's farm

I'm going to join in a rock 'n' roll band

I'm going to camp out on the land

I'm going to try an' get my soul free

We are stardust

We are golden

And we've got to get ourselves

Back to the garden

Then can I walk beside you

I have come here to lose the smog

And I feel to be a cog in something turning

Well maybe it is just the time of year

Or maybe it's the time of man

I don't know who I am

But you know life is for learning

We are stardust

We are golden

And we've got to get ourselves

Back to the garden

By the time we got to Woodstock

We were half a million strong

And everywhere there was song and celebration

And I dreamed I saw the bombers

Riding shotgun in the sky

And they were turning into butterflies

Above our nation

We are stardust

Billion year old carbon

We are golden

Caught in the devil's bargain

And we've got to get ourselves

back to the garden

"greed is good" was like the crack of a slavers whip following the once again spirit of love that did emerge in a few.. and childrens programming explicitly says "see the hippy/ he is repulsive" God, in twenty years the descent into hell was like going down a greased slide. And Frankinsense WAS marijuana. humanity is an imbecile that votes against its own interest every time, following the voice of the ego instead of the voice of love

"we got to get ourselves back to the garden" Joni " Human thought is seen as a virus by the rest of the Galaxy" repeated twice Men in Black. "perhaps they never will" Starry Starry night "love and care for each other" they did not hear; but they did hear and NOT laugh in derision at such an idea: "greed is good" and so elected the mother of this world and she is greedy and she SHALL take it all. Her name is CORPORATE. And she IS satan, and she does enslave all who do not remember heaven again and return, but stay in hell. We are eternal beings and it was a choice in the mind of which road to follow; the one of love or the one of ego.

Joni, I was 6 years old when you played in Woodstock. We were in Germany and dad was in Nam. I listened. I've been listening my whole life. You are the reason I'm able to play anything by ear. Mostly the flute because it's pretty. I have all your music. I listen to it through MRI'S for my stinking back. I listen when I'm sad and happy and when I was growing up, I told my mom that you and Joan Baez and Judy Collins were my other nice mommies. I'd dream your music. All my life. I'm 50 now. Thought I should tell you and say thank you. I turned out pretty well. I bake my own bread and grow my food here in Kentucky. My poor mother. I said Joni Mitchell is my mommy!! I was such a shit! Thanks for being my other mommy. And for being a part of my life. Jiniece ❤

I'm not religious at all, but if there is an angel on our Earth it is Joni.

she is absolutely freaking amazing. The haunting melody over the rolling bass lines, her angelic voice on the top, and her own composition to boot. Is there any singer songwriter musician any more talented than her? I think not. Get well, Joni, so we can have you here longer.

Joni, we will never forget you and how you have single-handedly created such a range of all-enveloping musical spaces ... a beacon shedding light on moods, reflecting the nakedness of human emotions (hope, joy, deception ... ) in an upbeat fashion and some of its unpleasantnesses, ... a wellspring of musicality and both timely and timeless feeling.

Joni's in the hospital as I listen to this song and write this. It's a bit mysterious what is wrong with her, but I fear she is not long for this world. She's such a rare talent and this song is so emblematic of the time. Let's be thankful for Joni Mitchell and wish her well.
