Somehow Jaco was at his very best when he was in a supportive role, albeit a very prominent supportive role with Joni. Their styles meld so beautifully together. Strangely much of Jaco's own later ensembles got messy and self indulgent and never reached this degree of utter beauty. How lucky we are for this fortuitous collaboration.
