donna, it just incredibly kind how she incorporates her sunsequent love of slow Jazz as a way of expressing her initial intent as a folksinger. Such a healing. We were so aghast when this happened over the course of about eight years, owing largely to her relationship with the producer Larry Klein. It was something to see, to hear. Honestly it changed my way of looking at things. She wrote. about every eighteen months, a succession of increasingly jazzy, fusion torch songs, each one more disarming than before, and ending I guess with this brilliant send-up, "Two Grey Rooms", which is impossible to discern, Pop from Jazz. In ways it was a send-up of Mingus and of Davis yet it was folk singer-songwriter all the way. Utterly heartwrenching. I scarcely can believe anyone did it, much less than that she did, but it's a goodbye like nothing ever heard.
