Say what you will about JT BUT love 'em or hate 'em he was the most REAL R&R "star" (think Al Davis in sports or Bill Murray in acting) as you'll ever find in addition to being a R&R genius (and NO, I never use the "G" word loosely, man...RIP JT...

Great track. But a body doesn't run well on smack and cigarettes.

Very nice tribute to Mr. T...I met him in London once, in '79. He nodded to me almost imperceptibly, while I was leaning in the hotel bar where I was staying, jawing to the barman, as I often did during the evenings.and then the guy at the front desk of the hotel I was staying at informed me that I was invited to a party at a swanky hotel further up the street. Then he left. He was a short dude, but I'm short as well, at 5'4". He wasn't much taller than I am. He was wearing boring and very non-descript clothes, I remember. Dull grey/green duds. Unusual because in '79, clothing style was sort of leaving punk and evolving into bright rainbow coloured jeans and clothes that the '80s would bring. Never did go to the party. I spent the evening jawing with Chris the bartender at the Princess Hotel as per usual. Guess what happened while we were yakking? My room was robbed. I had few valuables, trust me, and my passport and silver jewelry were locked in a suitcase; only I had the key. The thief or thieves didn't think to make off with the suitcase. Hmmm....Thunders was in his junkie element, too, one look at him and I could tell. I can in no way accuse him, though I've my suspicions about the seedy manager of the hotel at the time and perhaps Thunders in cahoots? No way of knowing. Odd that the robbery happened the day after I saw Thunders. I'll have to ask Detective Andy Sipowicz to look into this for me...still love Johnny Thunders and I was very saddened to hear of his death...

Yea, Johnny was one of a kind. A lot of haters focus on his heroine addiction but the truth is he could perform incredibly well on or off drugs, and he was truly a vulnerable and fucked up artist.....He is forever embedded in the trails of rock n roll as a 'true' artist as you put it.
