I would like to state in 1922 the 26 counties was set up by the hard work of M. Collins .......from that time nothing has been added ....from 1916 to 2015 is 99 years from 1916 to 1922 is 6 years ...M. Collins done more for Irish Freedom in 6 years than all other.......Today we have a united Germany .....and the Smart Men in Dublin cannot get 6 counties added to make the 32 all Ireland Counties .............These are the facts ....Like them Or..........Not

Laughable, armchair republicans slagging Collins, and what have any of you done to build on the initial freedom achieved by Collins ? he said himself it gave Ireland the freedom to achieve full independence, but I doubt even he could not have foreseen that the Rebellious freedom loving Irish would turn into a bunch of yellow keyboard warriors in a couple of generations, turning their backs on Uladh and our brethren within. .He provided the platform for us , and it is we who have failed him, not the other way around. And don't forget, the Irish delegation was under threat of "terrible and immediate war" should they not accept it, and the agreement still had to be accepted by the Dail , which it was, by the majority of the elected representatives of the country, so it wasn't only Collins who accepted it, and had it not been accepted by the majority he would have rejected it himself.Mor mo nair Mo chlann fein a dhiol a mathairAr dheis De go raibh a anam.

Honestly can't understand why people make comments on things they obviously haven't a clue about. Michael Collins and Arthur Griffith were given the unenviable job of going to London to negotiate a treaty with the British Prime Minister lyod George who by the elected republican president who knew before sending both of them that the partition of the island had already been agreed with the northern protestants. Which would give them control of the 6 richer counties to the north east of the island. Collins and Griffith had no choice but to accept British terms as refusal would have led to all out war one which Collins as head of the IRA knew he could not win. If you do any reading into the subject you can easily see his reasoning for accepting the terms and try to move forward in a more political and peaceful way and I have studied this and in my opinion had Collins not being shot it's very likely Ireland would be now a unified country.

Some people think that a partitioned Ireland was a 26-county free state and a six-county area tied to the British yoke. The original proposal would have included the border counties and Collins was quite happy to accept that. That was one of the main reasons for the split in the Republican movement.

Isn't Revisionist history great! Collins was a Free Stater who was willing to settle for a Partitioned Ireland ( 22 counties). Not acceptable, not then, and definitely not now. Were it not for the fear of a civil war now, Britain and Ireland would have, long ago, acquiessed to a United Ireland. The Republic is just as afraid of the Protestant backlash as the Brits are. Somewhere, down the road, Ireland willl be as one but for now we will have to settle for an economic unification. That's just 21st century reality.Do people realise how much maintaining a presence in Northern Ireland is costing the Brits? Cameron (Brit PM) just recently signed off on a two billion grant for N.I. You don't think the Brits need that money at home? Think again.

dev sold him out, to save his back. I can not believe the reason dev was saved in KILMANEN, was because hr had a American passport. Still became president of Ireland. With a American passport. I hate him.

Collins was in a difficult position. He was trying to gather support for a Treaty that was unpopular with many, and was shot down because Dev made a childish refusal to accept that the people of Ireland had voted for Michael's treaty. It is my opinion that Dev saw him a threat to his power (Collins won the War of Independence, so he would've been a popular figure), so sent him to Britain when he knew that the British wouldn't give them the republic (I think that Dev would've gone himself if he thought for a second they would give them the republic).May General Michael Collins, The Man Who Won The War, and the finest man Ireland has ever produced, Rest In Peace. Respect from AustraliaP.S. May De Valera rot in Hell for eternity, the snivelling bugger.
