This is from Siegmund Romberg's last completed show, 1952's "The Girl in Pink Tights." It was originally sung, in the show, by David Atkinson to France's formidable Renee Jeanmaire ("Hans Christian Anderson"). I don't think anybody could sing it better than Johnny Mathis, though. Perfect mating of singer and song.
