0:50 to 1:07 was etched into my mind the first time I saw this documentary a few years ago.I went out the following week and got a coat as close to the bod he is wearing as possible epaulets and all. What a man

When he plays 'There is a light' it sounds more like an orchestra than a guitar. Is there octaver or something?

I wish he wouldn't have given up playing the Ric. I know Fender is paying him a truck load and he wants to sort of detach from his Smith's sound but it's such a beautiful sounding guitar and he is the best that ever played it...

Johnny is a genius. Guitarist of his generation by a country mile.probably still the best. Makes me cry listening to him.

This is what all guitar players should aim to look like.

He used to play it like this (incorporating the keyboard bits) live. I suppose if he wanted to show off he'd have recorded the song the same way.

0:34 - 1:07... 33 seconds of pure enchantment for me, every time i hear it. so much emotion and complexity in just one brief piece of music.

I'd bum him if he played that to me before we went to bed... dreamy.

what's even more impressive is the skill to write them, Johnny Marr is in my opinion the best guitar player in the world because of his ability to come up with these riffs

I put this to you - how long would you want to listen to Guthrie govan? he's great for about 5 minutes but listen to the range of emotions that johnny puts into his playing and I for one would listen to the guy all night. and that's why marr is many many times a better musician than govan (who admittedly is a technical wizard)

Johnny Marr is what you get if you mix talent, knowledge and dedication. you have to respect people who can make a good sounding riff out of an easy scale and you have to respect somebody who can make a nice rhythm because they've poured hours into chord transitions and such. but Johnny Marr has both and a bit of something special as well
