*STEREO*. Furious, soul-wrenching song "I Want That" from Johnny Kidd. Rather like 'Summertime' & 'Fever' combined and upped in tempo ten times. Probably does not have any of the Pirates playing, backed instead by the Mike Sammes Singers & Orchestra. Recorded 1 Dec. 1961, released 1962 as the B-side of 'Hurry On Back To Love'.

Im pretty sure theres footage of them playing Shakin All Over in a studio (maybe BBC) but it doesnt seem to be anywhere online. Saw it on a Rock N Roll VHS comp years ago. Will keep an eye out.

@Caylus1578 Agreed. The opening guitar riff on 'Shakin' All Over" has to be one of the most recognisable intros ever,

Thanks for posting this classic; it's a real shame that there is no known vid of Johnny and the Pirates.....one of the best British bands and one of the earliest too!!

Thank you so much for that; just an amazing wonderful song and arrangement. If you really listen to the lyrics, they imply things that most likely would get 'civil groups' up in arms even today. The backup girls are great, and the whole thing sounds like it was recorded in an airplane hangar. You just can't have too much reverb sometimes..:-) "The innocent days"....don't think so.

This is GREAT! I'd love to ask Mick Green if Johnny's eye patch ever wandered from one eye to the other from one show to the other. Thanks for posting this-the sound quality is excellent.

I used to buy Dr Feelgood LPs back in the 70s. Always loved Wilko's guitar work, especially 'Lookin' Back'
