My preferred genre is heavy metal, but I'm a Horton fan. I've actually sang this song at karaoke: I have a natural quasi Southern accent, hence country is coincidentally the only type of music I can successfully sing.

Anyone know the name of this show. Sounds so Southern. I could see Opey, Aunt Bea and the Sheriff sitting back on a Sunday night watching this .

It is truly a shame that the South lost the Civil War. We would not have the problems that we have today.

I like how all of the new music uses synthesizers and the best music comes from a guy and a guitar.

My Dad is a double amputee from Vietnam War, Not conflict and when he was told that he would never walk again .. his uncle played this song and kept pushing him to walk, he has not been in a wheel chair since then, 1968. His name is Jon. Left for Dead. Twice.... Honor a VET!! Your freedom is thanks to them!!

This one still sends chills up my spine. The imagery and references to wounds in your side are graphic.

Lincoln and the Republican businessmen he worked for were the advance agents for today's huge central government. Lincoln was first with the forced government draft in the U.S., he put forth the income tax system which the Supreme Court ruled unconstitutional and he printed paper funny money well before the Federal Reserve Bank did so. He was a disaster for the nation and killed over 600,000 people. He was shot basically after the war ended, which did no good then and caused even more problems. He won election in 1860 with less than half of the votes and sneaked into Washington due to death treats then. England ended slavery without blood shed, and we could have, too. This was a war between the money bags of the industrial north and the smaller money bags of the mostly agrarian south. Some felt that Lincoln destroyed a lot of lives and he did. The propaganda in our history books look at him as "Father Abraham." Lincoln solved the "state's rights' question once and for all and today about the only difference between the states in the United States is their auto license plates.

All these great singers had such distinct voices and styles. Johnny was such a huge talent and a fun guy by stories told by those in the industry who worked with him. R .I.P.JH

I am like wondering how many more more good music if Johnny Horton had not died in that fatal car accident. I have always loved his music. It does tell some good stories.
