The song was originally written for the Canadian athlete Rick Hansen, who at the time was going around the world in his wheelchair to raise awareness for spinal cord injuries - a journey called the "Man in Motion Tour." It hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in September 1985.

Did you also know that when Rick Hansen and some people went back to China for the 25th Anniversary of the Man In Motion Tour,they brougth with them the banner of the Vancouver Canucks Hockey Team in following the route he took in the Great Wall Of China during the 80's,Rick also has a picture of him wearing a the official scarf of the CANUCKS in the Great Wall.13 years назад
