John McCormack sings his signature song, Marshall's "I Hear You Calling Me." This is one of several recordings of songs from a March 16, 1911 session. (B 8695-2 / Victor 64120)

What can I say but that this is one of the most beautiful songs ever written and sung my one of the greatest singers ever and a  credit to Ireland. He certainly put us on the world map back in the day.

Where did you get the matrix number?  My record only has "64120", "12U", and "R2".  It sounds the same; is it the same take as yours?

The great Irish tenor in his absolute vocal prime with his virtually unique command of soft singing in the upper register that may have equaled only by Gedda in the years since. The song is exceptionally difficult to sing and very, very few tenors have ventured to record their versions of it.Perhaps an even better example of the soft but focused top is the b-flat climax of Macushla taken pppp(equally as imposing is the stunning ff approach taken by Jan Peerce off the breath).
