I agree with a poster below this is why I will always love music. I am a jazz head but my passions are with the acid jazz genre, electronica, etc, etc, etc,. I claim to know so much about music and have several subscriptions to different music magazines dedicated to many different genres and I would just love to know why I had never heard of John Grant until Jooles Holland. Then again I have been exposed to so many awesome artists from that show. Honestly this sounds a lot like the band Savatage starting with their album Edge of Thorns. The vocals amazing, the lyrics are very dark and the music amazing. I hear a lot of David Bowie on this John Grant album also but that is just me.

The new HBO show "Looking" uses just a bit of this in one of the episodes - and I was thunderstruck. I became obsessed with John Grant. Incredible artist!!

This guy is really great - I must confess I'd never heard of him until this show. But it was filmed in the local TV studios in Maidstone and I got tickets to go along. When John Grant came on to perform, I thought it was electric. The beats to his music are great, and the "dark" sound to his music, lyrics and voice just really work - they sent shivers down my spine, and I've been a fan ever since.
