This was back when Simon was managed by the great WLAC disc jockey "John R" Richbourg. I remember the brief disclaimer John R read (in any radio show he did when one of his managed artists had a song played) to comply with anti-plugola/payola laws. Talk about a powerful manager-WLAC (1510 kHz, 50KW) ruled the South, Midwest and much of the Eastern US with R&B shows from 9pm-4am ET (1946-74) with John R, Hoss Allen, Gene Nobles and other legendary DJs when most R&B stations were low-power AM daytimers if they were even on the air yet. I better stop now before I get into my rant on how poor radio is today compared to then!
