This woman is just too damn good to even describe. This song has a quality that transcends mere songwriting and performance. Should more artists be like Joan Armatrading? How could they be? Joan is a one of a kind...there is no other. She can rock harder, or pull at your heart poignantly more than any other black female artist I know. Sorry Tracy Chapman, you do indeed come close and you are a great artist -- but, Joan is like Elvis. There is only one.
