Yes, the reason is that Simplified Chinese was introduced by the PRC Government, which is why it wasn't adopted in Taiwan or Hong Kong or the overseas communities at the time. It has nothing to do with Cantonese vs Mandarin. (Case in point, Taiwan, where Mandarin is spoken, and Traditional characters are used).

Cantonese exist since 公元900 much more older than mandarin. They have an election back then on choosing the official language in china and mandarin happened to have more vote so mandarin was the official language since then

Wow!! I haven't heard from JIn since....Forvever!!! I remember watching him when he was on 106 and Park and he won almost every rap battle!! Then he was supposed to sign to I don't remember. I think it was Ruff Riders? Def Jam? God I can't remember! The only thing I remember something went wrong and then there was something about not feeling the love. I don't understand in whole though.
