Disagree with Coppaway that "...this version is way better than the original...". This song is from Dylan's Time Out Of Mind album. It was recorded in 1997 and personally believe is one of his best albums. I'm certain that even Jimmy Lafave would agree with me that Dylan's arrangements and singing on this album is sheer beauty. No question that Lafave chose this song because of what he heard coming from Dylan.

I'd bet two cheeseburgers and a milk shake that Jimmy Lafave would laugh or react adversely if someone said his version was better than Dylan's. I doubt if he would have sung this if he hadn't heard Dylan's version. Dylan's is one of the very greatest accomplishments of modern music.And wow... What a freaking brilliant slide guitar solo at the end!

I like this version too....but better than the original? Absolutely, no way. Not Dark Yet is one those songs that Dylan nailed right out of the gate and no one will ever do it better. Haunting, sad..perfect match of music and lyrics.

dylan's voice has declined with his age unfortunately. but in his prime his voice had far more power and beauty than jimmy lafaves.

I LUUUUUUV Bob Dylan, but of all the covers I have collected of this tune, LaFave's is by far superior. All of Bob's versions are also wonderful; each in their own way...
