On this day in 1941 {August 30th} "Green Eyes" by Jimmy Dorsey reached #1 {for 4 weeks} on the Billboard's Best Selling Retail Records chart... He then knocked himself out of the #1 spot with his version of "Blue Champagne"... On this day in 1966 {April 30th} Helen O'Connell performed "Green Eyes" on the ABC-TV program 'The Hollywood Palace'... Twenty five years earlier on May 9th, 1941 the Jimmy Dorsey orchestra version, with vocals by Helen O'Connell & Bob Eberly, entered Billboard's Top 100 chart, and on August 30th it peaked at #1 {for 4 weeks} and stayed on the chart for 21 weeks...
