This was a hit when I was in high school, right along with the rocksongs we liked. I could never remember the title, I always rememberedthe line about another one before the sun goes down. I thought thatwas the title until I ran across it here!

Talk about variety! "Little Black Book," "I.O.U.," "Big John," "P.T.109," etc. Jimmy Dean was special. I met him once and went into a bit of this song with him. Sausage salesman, too. Miss him.

Reminds me a bit of one of my compositions, "Matchin' Sox," the lyrics of which can be found through Google.

The guy has a backup plan, he's fortunate if he'll have another woman friend/lover before the san goes down. Their are alot of younger guys like that, they play the field and have that little black book, their called playboys. I was never one of them and I don't have a little black book...at least not the one Jimmys singing about. As a matter of fact when it comes to all the phone numbers I have to remember, I don't need a little Black Book or a cell phone. I need my laptop however and thx.

Who's playing harmonica on this? Only us old timers today would know who 'Doctor Casey' was, right old time TV fans?

Just heard he died. I had the album Portrait of Jimmy Dean when I was kid in the 60's and listened to this song many times. RIP Jimmy.

One of the few Jimmy Dean hits that was actually sung rather than narrated. (Though I like the narrated ones too). Thanks for posting.
