That's interesting, considering Cain joined Journey a good seven years after they started lol

Some rock trivia for you....Barns was almost asked to be Journey's original lead singer when Jonathan Caine was putting Journey together.

Yep, been listening to the Joe version a bit lately in the car. Jimmy's vocal on Joe's version sounds like it's clipping, but that's just Jimmy's voice these days. He was always a screamer, but 20 years ago, he could still sing with clarity. Neals solos here a stellar, and beautifully understated. Funny how when this came out everyone was praising Diesel for the solos because he appeared in the clip. Now, if you want to hear Neal REALLY smokin', go listen to the album he did with Jan Hammer!

I'm not really a Journey fan, but this seems to be the perfect combo of singer, band, and lead guitar. very intense. a long-time favorite.(NS being the Journey guitarist,of course)

I met with this song with Joe Bonamassa version but the guitar on this one is such a killar as well as the Joe version. Then I realized it's played by Neal Schon. Oh of course... :)

All I can say is , if you were in Oz at the time it's release, then you would know which version is greater!!

As I listen to this song I have been asking myself "What hole was I in back in '87, that I don't remember this jam?" I was 11 back then but I was into all kinds of music! If I didn't hear Bonamassa sing it, I wouldn't have ever known it existed. What a sound!!!! I definitely have to see Bonamassa and Barnes do this together.

Joe Bonamassa's version makes this song "fresh" again. & Jimmy's now more "mature" raw sounding voice is so much more meaningful. LOVE IT !! :-)
